Finishing a wooden house inside: examples of the interior

Interior decoration of a wooden house

Finishing work - the last, final stage of construction of a private mansion. The house is built of brick, concrete blocks, natural wood. The external, internal decoration of a wooden house fully determines the style of the structure. The wooden building is very warm, environmentally friendly, with positive natural energy, and when properly designed, it is also cozy.

Features of finishing a wooden house

The wooden outside is a small village house; a country mansion is often decorated with wood from the inside. Wood is rarely stained - the texture has a pleasant appearance, because it is usually only slightly tinted, impregnated with anti-rot compositions.

The process of interior decoration of a wooden structure should not be excessively accelerated - this will adversely affect the appearance and durability of the entire structure. Before starting the design, it is recommended to draw up a detailed plan in order to clearly understand what materials, types of work are needed.

In order for the building to maintain an optimal microclimate, a comfortable temperature, it is also decorated with environmentally friendly materials from the inside. The estimated humidity of each room is taken into account first of all - it is not advisable to use coniferous wood in a bathhouse in the combined bathroom in the kitchen, due to excessive release of tar in case of temperature increase.

When finishing is done in an old rather than a freshly constructed building, it is cleaned of the remnants of previous coatings - paint and other things.

When to start finishing after construction

Immediately after the construction is completed, the interior decoration cannot be done - you need to wait for the partial shrinkage of the sawn timber, during which their dimensions are slightly reduced, and the insulation is pressed. The terms of shrinkage directly depend on temperature, humidity of the environment, the tree itself, design features of the home. The size of the building also matters - large houses take longer to dry.

The structure of glued beams most intensively dries out the first two to three months, and completely - more than two years. Therefore, it is recommended to start decorating the house from the inside at least six months after the completion of construction.A log house, unlike a log house, dries out for almost a year. Frame structures, self-supporting insulated panels, consisting of an OSB plate and a foam layer, practically do not shrink, therefore, interior decoration can be done immediately after construction.

Finishing a house from a bar

In houses built in the winter, shrinkage will be minimal. To check whether the log house is sufficiently dried, paper strips are glued in different places of it, especially at the corners, joints: if they have not been torn in a couple of weeks, it is already possible to carry out internal work.

Stages of interior decoration of wooden houses

According to modern technology, the improvement of the interior is carried out in stages:

  • at the very beginning, caulking is done;
  • after they insert the outer doors, windows;
  • the walls are covered with compounds that prevent decay, mold, damage by insects, fungi;
  • insulate the floors of each floor, the roof;
  • lay draft, then finish floors, if necessary, treat them with protective agents;
  • Finish the ceilings;
  • Mount wiring;
  • install, connect a heating system, plumbing fixtures;
  • make stairs, interior doors.

The process of internal arrangement of premises in time can take longer than the construction of the house itself, but you should not rush.

Internal arrangement

Preparatory stage: how, what you need to process the tree

At the preparation stage, the building needs to be double-caulked, then the walls are coated with protective agents. It is important to know that protection is necessarily applied not only outside the building, but also inside. If initially timber, logs were purchased without factory impregnation, then protection is created independently: first, everything is processed before construction begins, then immediately after the construction of the house, and after partial shrinkage, comprehensive measures are taken.

Means for internal processing should be properly labeled, they are transparent, with a slight tinting effect. What drugs are needed:

  • primers - prevent the destruction of materials, help good adhesion to subsequently applied paint;
  • biopren - in their composition there is antiprene and antiseptic;
  • antiseptics - have the form of impregnations that protect the tree from the inside or coatings forming a dense film;
  • bleaches - help remove stains that often appear during shrinkage due to the appearance of fungus. Oxalic acid, hydrogen peroxide, bleach, and others are also applicable here;
  • flame retardants - reduce the likelihood of fire, are released salt and non-salt.

Wood processing

Coverage starts from the bottom - the floors that are located below are processed first, the subfloor, logs, and then the places between floors, walls, and ceilings. All surfaces are carefully leveled by a grinding machine, then they are cleaned of dust, first covered with an antiseptic - for a bath, bath, shower, unheated rooms, at least two layers are required. Next is impregnation with antiprene, preferably non-salt. After the primer is made, the last thing is a decorative coating.

The choice of materials for wall decoration

Wall materials for a wooden house fit almost the same as for the construction of aerated concrete, brick, these are:

  • Eurolining;
  • block house;
  • drywall, gypsum fiberboard, gypsum board;
  • paint for interior work;
  • decorative plaster;
  • plastic wall panels;
  • Chipboard;
  • Fiberboard;
  • plywood;
  • wallpaper;
  • photo wallpaper;
  • ceramic tile (for wet rooms).

If the weather conditions in the region allow, the walls are not decorated with something additional, but are only impregnated with compounds that prevent their damage. The same option is allowed if the house will be used only in the summer.

Drywall

Plasterboard structures perfectly hide large wall irregularities, as well as all communications. Additional intra-house partitions are also built from this material, niches are formed. When used in humid areas of a bathroom, a bathroom, stoves with a waterproof coating are recommended, for the kitchen, workshop - with fireproof.Sheathing with plasterboard material of the attic, another room having an irregular shape, will look neat, original.

Drywall Constructions

Drywall installation is carried out mainly on a wooden crate, metal for wooden buildings is not recommended.

Lining

Cladding lining is made of deciduous, coniferous, rarely exotic wood. By quality, it is divided into four types:

  • extra - panels without visible defects, chips, cracks, knots, spots of contrasting color;
  • class A - good quality, slight color differences are acceptable;
  • class B - medium quality, there are small chips, cracks on the front side;
  • class C - low quality, many knots, uneven coloring.

Lining is mounted on the crate, varnished. Separate parts are fastened to each other with the help of spikes, grooves. This option is environmentally friendly, very diverse in color, texture.

Block house

The block house is a modified, convex lining that simulates the parts of the logs that are rounded. The elements are connected with a thorn groove fastener, and are made as follows: a square is cut out of a whole log, what remains is well dried, polished, becomes a block house. The material is strong, durable, has a high level of decorativeness, but is practically vapor-tight, and without special impregnation it is combustible.

By the quality of processing the front surface, the block house is divided into grades extra, A, B, C. Depending on the purpose, it is produced for internal work, simple universal, wide for facades, universal wide.

To ensure sufficient sound insulation, the places between the bars of the battens are covered with insulation.

Plaster

In houses made of natural wood with stucco, usually textured, separate areas of different rooms are finished - a fireplace in the living room, walls in the hallway, places around doorways, windows and window sills.Decorative plasters are vapor-permeable, elastic, durable, not afraid of mechanical influences, all kinds of shades are produced, which allows you to choose the material for any interior style.

Updating the decorative plaster coat is recommended every four to six years.

Painting

When the timber walls are smooth enough, it is not necessary to additionally sheathe them - you can simply paint it with one or several different paints. First, the painted surfaces are carefully sanded, the seams between the parts are masked with a special cord so that there is no draft.
A water emulsion paint, colored antiseptic compounds, which are:

  • beautifully emphasize natural wood patterns;
  • reliably protect against the appearance of fungus, mold, rot;
  • prevent natural darkening of lumber.

The coating is matte or glossy, and the saturation of the shade depends on the number of layers applied.

Using wall panels

Wall panels are reliable, practical, look beautiful. They are produced in different price categories: the most expensive are made of solid wood, the cheaper ones are made of various wastes. The surface is finished with veneer, varnish on wood, laminated. In shape, this wall material is:

  • typesetting - has the shape of a square, with a side of 300 mm or 980 mm;
  • sheet - with a size of 5 by 1220 by 2440 mm;
  • rack and pinion - 10-12 to 120-300 to 2400-3700 mm.

There is a classification of the main material:

  • solid wood lining, consisting of valuable wood plus coniferous;
  • Fiberboard - made from wood fibers;
  • Particleboard - made of sawdust, shavings;
  • MDF - is made from very small compressed chips.

The panels can also be made of plastic, with a plausible imitation of wood, bamboo, leather, stone, etc. Most of the wall panels perfectly retain heat indoors, protect against noise, which is especially important when equipping children's rooms, bedrooms.

Wallpaper, mural

Simple paper wallpaper is the most budgetary option for interior decoration, but if the walls are not even, a special substrate, for example, from drywall, a thorough primer of the surface for gluing is required. Fabric options are made of wool, silk, linen, carefully emphasizing the naturalness, naturalness of the finish, the beauty of the chosen interior style. Liquid wallpapers are good in that they have no joints, they are excellently applied, they repel dust, they are easy to restore if necessary. Also used are vinyl wallpaper, fiberglass, non-woven, painted, washable.

More expensive “wooden wallpaper” or gusvarblok, more reminiscent of lining than traditional material. They are made of natural veneer, special, specially dried, thermal wood. Such wallpapers are attached with the help of small cloves or “liquid nails”.
Cork products look very original, created from the loose bark of cork oak. They provide additional insulation of the building, sound insulation. This product will perfectly decorate the interior in ethnic style.

Wall murals are glued in much the same way as plain, paper ones, but only on a perfectly even wall the picture will not be deformed, distorted. For various interior styles, a rustic landscape theme or a panorama of a modern metropolis, widescreen images of domestic cats or tigers in the natural environment, abstractions of “flashy” colors and modest still lifes with flowers, wicker baskets are suitable.

Walls in the form of a log house

For an exclusively summer cottage, interior design with additional building materials is not necessary - it is enough to cover the logs or boards with protective compounds, stain. All partitions in such a house are made of logs. This home is natural, environmentally friendly, suitable for country styles, rustic.The drawback is that the shrinkage of whole log walls is quite large, and it will be necessary to update the fire and antiseptic cover quite often.

To create a log house, only carefully dried logs are used - this will reduce shrinkage, the likelihood of mold, rot.

Materials used for interior flooring

The floors in the house made of wood should be strong, no less durable than the structure itself, in good harmony with the walls. The design consists of a draft base, waterproofing, heat-saving layer, and finish coating. A “air cushion” is created between the subfloor and the foundation, retaining heat. Often used backfill, consisting of fine chips, sawdust.

Their top layer is most often made of wide "deck" boards, but other options are acceptable:

  • parquet;
  • laminate;
  • bulk floor;
  • Chipboard;
  • linoleum;
  • tile;
  • carpet.

In order for the wooden coating to serve for a long time, it does not change its properties under the influence of destructive factors (temperature, humidity, damage by microorganisms), it is covered with antiseptics, varnish, and a high-quality insulation is placed under the bottom.

Laminate

Laminate decoration most often imitates the texture of natural wood, less often - stone, snake skin or has a fantasy pattern. The material itself consists of four different layers: paper impregnated with resin, fiberboard, textured paper with a wood look, and a protective film coating. The thickness of the laminate is from six to twelve mm. The individual parts are connected to each other with the help of spikes and grooves.

Before laying, a foundation is created - a concrete, cement screed, which should be as even as possible. The coating is dried for at least 40-60 days, on top, under the laminate itself, a rolled substrate is placed. Putting this material on underfloor heating is not recommended.

When using the glue connection of parts, water-repellent glue is selected.

Linoleum

Linoleum is a relatively durable, low-cost coating suitable for any room. The variety of colors, patterns, textures, base materials allows you to choose it for any style of interior. This option requires the most even, smooth surface for laying - plywood is often used as a substrate. Linoleum is unstable to mechanical damage, it is unacceptable to fix it to the base with nails - only glue, double-sided tape, and in cramped rooms it is fixed with baseboards without the use of additional materials.

Linoleum in the kitchen

If the room is large, it requires laying several strips of linoleum, then the joints are glued with tape or connected by "cold welding".

Carpet

Carpeting has high heat-insulating, soundproofing properties, which is taken into account in houses consisting of two or more floors. Carpet refers to rolled materials, has processed sides, a huge variety of colors, patterns. It is quite durable - it will last more than 15 years, it is not afraid of wet cleaning, it is made from both natural and synthetic fibers. Different species differ in pile density, base thickness - the thicker the carpet, the warmer the future floor will come out.

For the bedroom, living room, nursery, long-haired options are suitable - 30-35 mm, in the hallway, the corridor - short-haired, 3-6 mm.

Bulk floor

It is quite difficult to make the bulk layer on your own, therefore specialists are usually invited. The decoration is performed in one-color, multi-color, “three de” format - the top layer looks transparent, and voluminous flowers “bloom” under it, sea waves splash, birds fly, clouds float, etc.

Such floors are usually laid over concrete, carefully leveled coatings. If we are talking about an old house where the floor was originally wooden, a cement screed is made on its surface, on which, after it has completely dried, the floors are poured.

Parquet board, massive

The wooden floor perfectly preserves the natural, best microclimate for human health. It is the most durable, hygroscopic, but it is important not to make a mistake with the choice of rocks suitable for a particular room:

  • wood abundantly releasing tar (pine, spruce, cedar, fir, larch) is not suitable for places where there are temperature extremes or high humidity - kitchens, saunas, baths, bathrooms with a heated floor, spaces around the fireplace, etc .;
  • conifers are perfect for living rooms - bedrooms, halls, nurseries, because among other things they emit substances that qualitatively disinfect the air;
  • linden, oak, beech are suitable for excessively humid rooms - they are practically not afraid of water;
  • maple, cherry possess high decorative qualities, and with proper processing, they can imitate wood of more valuable species.

The finished floor is usually waxed, varnished on top or tinted with a suitable color.

Ceramic tile

Ceramic decoration, like most types of stone, is rarely used in “warm” wooden buildings, exclusively in non-residential, utility rooms. The tile looks good in the room of the toilet, bathroom, kitchen, hallway. When laying tiles in wooden buildings, it is recommended to use "sliding" guides that do not transmit the natural deformation of the house when shrinking on the tile floor.

For a wooden mansion, tiles stylized as natural veneer from precious woods are best suited.

Ceilings

The possibilities for registration in a self-built dwelling are much greater than in a city apartment - the height of the space here is limited only by imagination, desires, and finances of the owners. Finishing the ceiling is most often done with wood paneling, less often - with the help of drywall, which is then painted, plastic panels, stretch film or fabric structures.

Wood

Finishing made from natural wood is a popular, optimal option. Such a coating is the most environmentally friendly, it is made both from an array of expensive rocks, and from an inexpensive lining, plywood. It is desirable that the humidity of the materials used does not exceed 15-18%: then the deformation will be minimal, the coating - even.

If a lining is selected as a coating, it is laid in one direction - when the room is small, separate areas are distinguished in spacious areas using perpendicularly laid panels or their different colors. When the room is decorated "antique", individual elements are decorated with carvings, hand-painted.

Plywood is the most budget option. It is suitable for unheated, wet rooms. The top layer is usually made of maple, alder, birch, walnut, the middle - from pine, spruce, fir.

Plasterboard constructions

Any surface is sheathed with gypsum board, it is easy to make a two-three-level ceiling of any area or configuration from it. Ceiling plates are lighter and thinner than wall ones; they are mounted on a wooden frame, less often - metal. On such a ceiling, it is easy to place many spotlights, an LED strip that separately illuminates each level along the contour, decorations made of plaster or plastic, hand-painted, various photo images.

Plasterboard constructions in the kitchen

Plastic panels

Plastic is a simple installation material. When the draft ceiling is fairly even, the panels are mounted directly on it, if not, then the wood or metal crate is first assembled. The disadvantage of this artificial material is that it almost does not let air through, because moisture often accumulates between the elements, fungus and mold develop. From the pluses - if individual elements are damaged, they are easy to replace.

Plastic panels

For a wooden mansion, ceiling panels in the color of light wood with an appropriate pattern are suitable.

Stretch ceiling

The main plus of tension structures is that they do not deform, even with significant shrinkage of a wooden structure. If the design still sags, it can be slightly “tightened” - it is advisable that the master does it. The material is stretched slightly below the beams, which affects the height of the ceilings - this must be taken into account when installing in low rooms. Such a design can be used in a single ensemble with drywall, when creating multi-level compositions. Depending on the chosen interior style, the film or textile canvas is decorated with various color or monochrome images: floral patterns, geometric ornaments, landscapes, abstractions, birds, clouds, butterflies, kittens, fruits, fish, palm trees, etc.

Experts disagree when to proceed with the installation of suspended ceilings. Some offer to do this almost immediately, others - after one and a half to two years, when there will be a complete shrinkage of the building.

Wooden house decoration styles

The stylistics of the interior for a private house, with the right approach, will suit almost any, but the most common:

  • country;
  • Provence
  • rustic;
  • classic;
  • Art Deco
  • Empire
  • minimalism;
  • Scandinavian;
  • loft;
  • ethnic;
  • modern.

Loft styleRustic style Modern style Art Deco Style Scandinavian style Art Nouveau

Different design options differ from each other in appearance, amount of decor, decoration methods. In minimalism, the interior is mostly monophonic, practically does not have any decor, voluminous ceiling beams are deliberately emphasized in the loft, the coating is forcibly aged, and gas and water pipes do not hide at all. In the ethnic style, the room is covered with frosted protective compounds, for art deco, for example, varnish gloss. Rustic suggests a rough, "clumsy" decoration of rooms, Provence is decorated with nice little floral ornaments on smooth walls. Classics are made in light colors, country often replete with multicolor.

Conclusion

The interior design of a small log cabin, a spacious cottage in the suburbs, is done by one’s own hands or with the participation of invited specialists who will finish, in accordance with the wishes of the “turnkey” customer. A modern wooden mansion will give warmth to more than one generation of residents, and high-quality, environmentally friendly materials will keep their health in order. Step-by-step master classes on internal work are easy to find on the Internet, on the pages of periodicals.
