Sizes of automatic washing machines: dimensions

Modern washing machine

Modern washing devices are becoming more and more technological. There was an automatic control, smart, additional modes. Taking into account all the specifics helps with the choice, but the final decision is made based on the size and weight of the machine. Only a small part of consumers know the influence of the size of washing machines, their role in terms of work efficiency. In modern practice, there is a division into full-size and small-sized models and into three types of products by weight.

The acquisition should begin with preliminary preparation: studying the features depending on the size and finding free space at different points in the house. Features of the premises, design, as well as the price - form the restrictions that "screen out" at least a third or a fourth of the options. Not least driven by energy and water savings.

What to consider when choosing a washing machine

First determine the optimal installation method. Devices can be freestanding and built-in: the first option has more advantages and “flexibility”. Then pay attention to the size. Full-size cars have high reliability indicators, and small ones save useful space. The third most important indicator is the degree of automation.

Semi-automatic machines are gradually losing market position due to new technologies. In this sense, you should study the capabilities of the device, its program. Intensive, accelerated and delicate washing, easy ironing - come in handy in different situations. In addition, pay attention to the number of revolutions per minute, sound insulation, load level. The state of the laundry after washing depends on the number of revolutions per minute - it will be drier or more humid. Noise isolation is important primarily in the kitchen.

The class of cars is indicated by the letters A - G - the models of the highest (A ++) class gently wash things and save energy.

Standard sizes

The parameters differ markedly in 3 types of models: frontal, vertical and built-in. In particular, the height of the first two types in the full-sized version is 89–90 cm, and those mounted in furniture are almost always up to 84–85 cm. Separate, compact versions for this indicator differ to a greater extent. Usually this is 60–70 cm, but some devices do not exceed the minimum level of 40–45 cm. Products with frontal (horizontal) loading vary greatly in depth.

Sometimes it is a little more than half the width. Compact front-mounted cars are installed almost everywhere.Units with a different type of load differ in terms of configuration. Their height also varies between products with indicators from 40 to 90 cm, but the width / depth parameter for them is more variable. Some models have rounded corners and a streamlined shape.

Front loading

Such cars are:

  1. Full sized.
  2. Small-sized (narrow, ultra-narrow, compact).

Front-loading units have been the most popular option in the world for the past 30–40 years. They are characterized by a transparent door and a horizontal type of filling the drum. Front-loading CMs are large and capable of washing up to 10 kg of clothing at a time. The height standard is 85–90 cm - from full-size to ultra-narrow. The compact ones are much lower - 68-70 cm, and such are placed even under the sink. The depth of conventional devices is much greater than other options. For full-sized, narrow, especially narrow and reduced modifications, these are 60, 35–40, 32–35 and 43–45 cm, respectively. Width is a hallmark of compact cars. For them, the actual value is 47-50 cm, and for all the others - 60 cm. As for the loading of linen, from full-size to compact parameters change as follows: 5-7, 3.5-5.2, 3.5-4 and 3 kg

Models to a greater extent differ in height and overall dimensional characteristics, and not in depth, as frontal options. The first distinguishing parameter, the height is usually 84, 85, 89 or 90 cm. Less often, it is at the level of 80 cm. Reduced options are usually not higher than 66–70 cm, sometimes miniature ones with an indicator of 42 cm are found. In vertical versions, the depth is usually greater than the width - with the exception of low cars, the shape of which “tends” to cubic.

The classic ratio of depth and width is 60 × 40 cm. Compact washing machines have parameters of 35–55 cm for both indicators, and the smallest are 37 × 35 cm. For full-size models, the depth varies from 45 to 65 cm and the width is from 35 up to 55 cm. Devices with vertical loading as well as front ones are also double, i.e. with two drums.Combined vertical loading SMs usually consist of 2 aggregates connected horizontally and have a width of 75 cm.

Recessed

In kitchen furniture, a module is sometimes provided for a washing machine up to a height of 85 cm. At the same time, any compact option will fit into a standard lower nightstand without shelves. The latter has a depth of 55 cm and a height of 75 cm. The owners can only organize communications. Embedded options have the following parameters: depth - 553-600 mm, width - 580-600 mm and height 750-840 mm. Furniture is required to have a margin of 50–70 mm for the first indicator, and 10–20 mm for the second and third.

The usual section under the kitchen working surface has a height of 820 mm, a width of 600 mm and the same depth, so some machines will definitely not work. As a rule, for built-in options, a margin of 190 mm in height and 100 mm in width is left in front from the bottom - in case the unit will be installed in a cabinet, but on the floor. Some built-in modifications are designed for installation under the countertop, also on the floor.

Advantages and disadvantages of small-sized washing machines

For compact cars find more accommodation options. Even a cramped bathroom or small kitchen would be a suitable place. Small-sized models have an advantage in design characteristics. They combine with furniture better than full-size options, even in a modern interior with its technological materials. But in reality, other, practical criteria usually become arguments in favor.

Profitability is the most obvious. Compact models are also characterized by a low noise level during operation. Small capacity is compensated by additional washing sessions. The disadvantages of smaller models can be divided into obvious and technological. In the second case, we are talking about the wear of parts due to compact placement, as well as the lack of a high-quality counterweight due to lack of space. These aspects adversely affect stability and durability.

What is the weight of the washing machine

The weight of the units is in the corridor of 30-100 kg, and the indicator is not always possible to determine by size. The mass of the product affects not only the convenience of transportation, but also the technical characteristics: the heavier the device, the less it vibrates from the rotation of the drum. The basis of the overall mass index is balancing elements that add stability. These parts, taken together, must be several times greater than the mass of clothing or shoes to be laid.

Heavy counterweights, in turn, prevent the washing machine from “walking” on the floor. Light options up to 50 kg are built into headsets without fear that there will be any breakdowns. Machines weighing 50-70 kg are in the middle category, they are usually placed separately from furniture. Devices weighing over 70 kg are considered heavy. These have more options for spin speed.

Tips and tricks for installation and placement

First of all, the unit is exempted from transportation accessories: bolts, brackets and other things. Starting the device with extra devices, it is quite possible, will end in failure. The edges of the machine should have a noticeable margin from the wall at the back - 2-3 cm in the open space and 5 - in the module for embedding. Washing machines are supported - they are always regulated.

The inlet hose is positioned at an angle: not more than 45 ° for the drainage point on the right side of the rear panel and not more than 35 ° on the left. In this case, if the standard hose is not enough - you have to look for another. It is not recommended to organize a drain point in the washbasin of the bathroom or kitchen. It is very unhygienic, especially in the kitchen. Storage facilities for dirty laundry, as well as cleaning / washing products, are organized next to the washing machine. A successful installation of the device depends on attentiveness and the ability to take into account the nuances:

  • the coating under the machine must withstand vibration;
  • the opportunity should be left for laying communications over a long distance;
  • at measurements it is necessary to consider roughnesses of surfaces.

Installing a washing machine

Before buying, you should check the unit: it is easy to rock the car from side to side - there should be no extraneous sounds!

In standard bathrooms up to 4 m2

Full-size options are installed either separately in the corner or under the sink top. Compact models stand even under the sink itself. There are no other options in the cramped bathroom of 4 m². Sometimes you have to buy a washbasin or even a smaller bath - if placement in the kitchen or hallway is impossible. So that the machine does not "walk" through the bathroom, it can be limited by some kind of partition. In this case, highly vibrating options should be left in the open.

Shelves and niches of the bathroom are also used to the maximum. Manufacturers also provided special modules in two sections: the machines are placed vertically, and in the other section they store powders and so on. Or vice versa - 2 units horizontally, and on top - there are shelves. To install two cars in a cramped bathroom, and in the apartment as a whole - this is the most convenient solution. Shower rooms without tanks will fit any size device.

Acceptable Kitchen Location

Do not place the machine near the oven - the module will be the best place near the sink or through one cabinet. It is necessary to observe a 60-centimeter distance, but high-quality thermal insulation will reduce this interval by two to three times. The distance from the walls is selected, starting from 5 mm on the sides and 50 mm at the rear. The machine can stand on the floor if it is not soft, and in which case it is covered with a sheet of plywood. The addition of a hard layer at the bottom also simplifies the adjustment of the support legs.

Near the installation site, leave space for access to the drain hose. The opinions of experts regarding the placement of 2 washing machines at a time diverge right away: some recommend placing them through one cabinet, others considerwhat can be nearby. Some models are installed under the kitchen table. This is much more convenient than in the headset and in terms of access, and because of the limited choice of a place in the wall.
Technical details:

  1. The socket must be grounded.
  2. An additional tap should be installed on the pipe, to which, in turn, a water inlet hose must be attached.
  3. It is advisable that a direct drain to the general sewage system is available.

Conclusion

With the advent of washing machines, people got more time for other activities. At the same time, it will take a lot of effort to find a suitable option, prepare for installation, and install it yourself, so that a possible error then does not lead to inconvenience or even to the purchase of a new device. Among other things, a stylish washing machine will be a good link in a modern interior. In addition to the automatic / semi-automatic classification, all models of this type of equipment are divided into freestanding and built-in. The second type has many size restrictions, and the first - includes conventional and compact modifications.

In turn, for all options there are 2 ways to download: the top and through the window on the front. In vertical variants, the depth often prevails over the width (usually 60 × 45 cm), while in the frontal versions it is vice versa (40 × 60 cm). The last type of cars is represented by full-size, narrow and ultra-narrow models. The standard height for the washing machine is 85–90 cm, and there are many modifications with an indicator of 65–70 cm.
